Antimicrobial protection against COVID-19 provides safer environment at ASU

Montgomery, Ala. - For the past few weeks, the Alabama State University campus has looked like a scene from Ghostbusters as professionals from Clean & Protect, A Global Solutions Company, “swarmed” buildings armed with back packs and spray guns to provide deep cleaning and antimicrobial protection for offices, residence halls and other campus facilities. “We are very serious about doing all that we can to provide work/learning environments that are as safe as possible against COVID-19 as we reopen the campus to employees and students,” said President Quinton T. Ross, Jr. “When we were made aware of the services provided by Clean & Protect, we immediately reached out to the company to partner with ASU.” The daily and deep cleaning of ASU buildings has been spearheaded by the Vice President for Facilities Management and Operations, Donald Dotson. “The work provided by Clean & Protect is not only an added level of protection for the ASU community, but it also gives the Office of Facilities Management and Operations a solid baseline as it relates to developing a consistent process to prevent the growth of problematic germs, viruses and bacteria that live on everyday surfaces in our facilities,” Dotson said. “Additionally, this service allows the University to present in real time to students, faculty, staff and parents our commitment to a safe campus.” Alabama State University is one of the first University’s in the nation to utilize the new disinfectant provided by Clean & Protect. Dotson said the work that Clean & Protect does is part of the overall master plan for ensuring the environmental protection of the campus against COVID-19. “The Office of Facilities Management and Operations identified enhanced and more frequent custodial cleaning as a major component of our Campus Reopening Plan.  The services provided by Clean & Protect, which includes a 365-day continuity plan, will build the foundation on which staff can not only ensure safe environments but also develop a ‘New Clean’ initiative to inhibit bacteria growth.  We feel this will give the ASU community the confidence to know that we are diligently preparing for their safe return,” said Dotson. Ross said safety must be a priority for the entire campus family. “We’re pulling out all of the stops to make sure that the campus is ready to receive our students, but we also emphasize that the entire campus community, including our students, must follow safety guidelines, including wearing face coverings, practicing social distancing and being careful of visiting unsafe environments outside of the campus. We want this coming semester to be a safe and productive time for our students, and we’re doing all that we can academically and environmentally to make sure that happens,” Ross added. The University has worked with Clean & Protect to produce a video to show the step-by-step process of how the company works to assess and provide specific microbial protection for the ASU campus.  To view Clean & Protect at work at ASU, click on the link below: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1PYqG2NsmKKXdqZoOEFoiZ4m21Wk_JccJ/view ABOUT CLEAN & PROTECT ABOUT THE PRODUCT Antimicrobial Technology The EPA registered, water-based, anti-microbial technology that Clean & Protect Solutions applies provides a persistent and continuous protection.
