Birmingham, AL — The 7th Project announced today the opening of the application process for its 2021 Congressional Internship Program in the Office of Congresswoman Terri A. Sewell. The 2021 program will take place in a mostly virtual capacity, and positions are available in Congresswoman Sewell’s Washington, D.C. and district offices.
The 7th Project will provide stipends to interns who are selected to participate, and all interns will be personally mentored by Congresswoman Sewell. In addition to students who are interested in legislative research and constituent correspondence, the 7th Project is also seeking interns with specialties in digital communications and photography.
Interested students should visit www.The7thProject.com for more information and to apply for the 2021 Congressional Internship Program. Any undergraduate or graduate student with a 3.0 GPA or higher who is from Alabama’s 7th Congressional District is eligible to apply for the Congressional Internship Program. Applicants must demonstrate high academic achievement as well as financial need. Applications may be completed online and must be received by February 26, 2021.
“We found that many students from Alabama’s 7th District weren’t able to take advantage of the Congressional internship opportunity because of economic barriers,” stated Ted Hosp, Board Chairman of The 7th Project. “We felt it was important to step in and fill the gap. Internships open so many doors for young people, and it is our hope that these students will continue to bring the knowledge and experience they gain back to their communities and make a positive impact in the 7th Congressional District.”

“The 7th Project has been a wonderful partner in providing interns for my office,” said Congresswoman Terri Sewell. “I was blessed to have the opportunity to work as an intern for my Congressman while in college, so I know what is possible when young people are given resources and opportunities to grow and succeed. In these challenging times, it is more than important than ever for us to nurture the next generation of leaders, and I’m thankful that The 7th Project is committed to helping make that possible.”
